Bike Ride
Eastern suburbs roll
This is a easy medium ride from Fed Square to Mordialloc. 50
km all on Bike paths.
Following the Yarra trail, Gardeners Creek, Outer city trail, Sky Rail along the Dandenong rail line, Eastlink trail finally the Edithvale Mordialloc wetlands trail to Mordialloc Station for a return train ride back to the city. Bring lunch or purchase on the way. You can leave the ride at any of the railway stations on the way.
Queens Park to Sandringham bike ride
Leave 9 AM Queens Park at Bowling Club gate, mostly bike paths, minimum road cycling to Pier 35 for coffee with a good view of Westgate Bridge
- Moonee Ponds Creek trail & Capital City trail to Docklands.
- Pier 35 [Fishermen’s Bend] for morning tea, can see Westgate Bridge & Docklands from Pier 35, scenic. 2 kms ride on Lorimer St. [can use footpath if concerned about trucks]
- Under Westgate Bridge to Port Melbourne along bike tracks. Cycle pass Fresh Water & Salt Water Lakes
Pretty much flat. Small amount of gravel cycling - Continue on past Station Pier
- Ride on Bay Trail [Beach Road] to Sandringham shopping centre for lunch or BYO. Can catch train home from here or retrace steps past Crown Casino, Capital City Trail, Moonee Ponds Creek path.
Williams Landing to Essendon
An easy 40 km. bike ride, mostly flat on cycle/walking paths. Early exit points at Altona [coffee stop] or Williamstown [lunch or BYO] Station are available. Rides aligns with the beach & later at Maribyrnong River. Meeting place - Essendon Rowing Club, The Boulevard, Moonee Ponds at 8:40 AM & cycle to Footscray Station [6.8 km] or meet at Footscray Station, Werribee line 9:15 AM for 9:26 AM train to Williams Landing [18 minute train trip]. Please inform me where you are meeting the group. Also wear bright shirt/top so cars can easily see you! No dark/grey/blue etc. tops. Bring spare tyre tube, pump, sunscreen & bike lock.
Diamond Creek to Moonee Ponds
This ride takes in the Diamond Creek Bike Trail, Main Yarra Trail and Capital City Trail. We will take the 9.21 Hurstbridge train from Flinders St station to Diamond Creek where we will have coffee. Then riding to Moonee Ponds via the above trails. Option to pull out of ride along the way and take a train home. Bring your lunch, water and snacks.

City -Eastern Suburbs ride
We ride up Swanson St around Princes Park to join the city trail and follow it to Fairfeild over the Yarra River and join the Yarra Trail until it meet the Kunang trail and head to Blackburn Then using local roads we will meet the Gardiners Creek trail and follow it back to Federation Square. Coffee will be at Fairfeild and lunch on route. So bring lunch
Northern Fringe Craigieburn to Mernda
Meet at Craigieburn Station (west side) at 9.45am. The ride initially loops to the west through Craigieburn via Atkin Creek and Malcolm Creek (coffee after 5km or so in Highlands) then heads East to Mernda via the newer outer suburbs - Galada-Tambore Path, Wollert trails, Findon and Darebin Creeks, South Morang rail path, Mill Park Lakes.
Bring lunch to picnic on the way. It's 40km to Mernda then onto the train home. There's an optional extra 10km approx of riding from Rushall back to the Essendon area for those heading that way.
On the ride there are "get-out" points at Epping and South Morang stations.

Riding to Meeniyan, passing through Korumburra Leongatha and Koonwarra.

Leaving Meeniyan, we will ride to Fish Creek for morning tea and onto Toora continuing to Welshpool and Port Welshpool (anyone can choose to stop and wait at Toora which reduces the day by 30 KM), returning to Toora Pub (5686 2475) for the night and tea. Rooms Double, Singles & Twins

Leaving Leongatha and riding to Korumburra Loch to Nyora. Loading up and heading home.
The great advantage of this ride is there is a twice daily vline bus service between all the towns so at any stage you can store your bike and travel back to the cars and return to pick up your bike.
You will need to bring breakfast and lunch for each day or buy lunch on the way but apart from the main towns there is very little else (apart for cows & trees)

Portarlington Geelong ride

A leisurely boat trip across Port Phillip Bay followed by a comfortable ride back to South Geelong via Drysdale and comfortable train ride back to the city
We will catch the Ferry from Port Phillip Ferries Docklands Terminal, Harbour Esplanade, Docklands VIC at 9:30
Meet about 9am.at the terminal. We will arrive Port Arlington around 10:40 ($17 con)
Morning tea in Portarlington, then we will ride south towards St Leonard’s on a Bike path , then quiet back roads with a long climb (not steep) to Drysdale for lunch. After lunch we follow the sealed Bike path to Geelong South railway station We will travel home on the 4:05 pm train (maybe) bring your myki and lunch or you can purchase it at Portarlington.

If it is forecast for extreme weather this trip will be cancelled.

Bay trail ride
This bike ride is 45 km easy that starts at Fed Square and follows the Yarra River to Geoff's shed then tracks to the Light Rail down to Port Melbourne. It continues along the Bay trail with a coffee stop on the way. Then onto Mordialloc for lunch. From there we will follow a trail through the Edithvale wetlands up to the Patterson River. We will finish at Carrum Station for a train back to Flinders Street Station.
