- Meeting Place and Time: If driving direct from Melbourne to Firth Park, it is best to go via Woodend and Trentham East and meet outside Firth Park Camping Area before 9.30 am
Details: Firth Park is situated just off Firth Road deep within the Wombat State Forest. The park has facilities for camping, picnicking and barbecues, with old forestry equipment for children to play on. It makes an ideal start/finish area for bushwalking around the Wombat State Forest, with plenty of parking.
This walk is a circuit around the park making use of logging tracks and forestry roads. Some of these tracks have been badly eroded and holes left by off road vehicles can be filled with water after rain. These areas are easily avoided but boots are recommended, and walking poles would come in handy. There are no steep climbs but a few undulations. Contact Ron if you need any other info.
Unfortunately, Firth Park is currently closed following the storms in 2022. Work is progressing to have the Camping Area ready to reopen by the end Of February 2023, and is therefor closed to the public.
There is an area opposite the entrance to the Camping Area that we can use for parking, but must stay clear of the actual entrance area.

Aireys Inlet - Last week of summer walk
Make the most of the last week of summer on this circuit walk around Aireys Inlet. Starting the Distillery Creek picnic ground we will make our way to the beach along Bounday Road and then follow the coast for about 3km taking the opportunity to look at the spectacular scenery and the Split Point Lighthouse, before heading inland to wind our way through the hinterland stopping at Moggs Creek and Painkalac dam.
This walk is all on track and will have its ups and downs, but we will be rewarded with wonderful sceney along the way. This walk is suitable for Bobs and non-Bobs.
If the day is going to be really hot, I will modify the walk to be a car shuttle and potentially shorten the distance, regardless it should be an enjoyable day.
Moonee Ponds Creek WestmeadowsWander
The second in a series of short walks, this walk starts at the Westmeadows Oval offArdlie St. Westmeadows and follows the Moonee Ponds Creek to the Dam near the entrance to Woodlands Historic Park. After a morning tea break at the Dam the walk returns to Westmeadows via a different route., with refreshments available at the nearby cafe if required. We may make use of some easy off track walking but runners should be suitable.
This walk has been regraded as Easy Medium but is still classified as a non qualifying walk.
Jubilee Lake Circuit Walk
Our meeting place will be at the Jubilee Lake Caravan park in the carpark in front of the toilets. We will begin by following the GDT along the rail trail, with a side trip to walk through one of the beautiful culverts underneath the trail, for those who are interested. Our walk will take in sections of the GDT, quiet bush tracks and a short section on a gravel road, before meeting up with the rail trail again and back to the cars for a well earned afternoon tea somewhere in Daylesford.
There are a few ups and downs, but no serious hills and it should be a pleasant day walking and friendly for everyone including Bobs.
