SUMMARY:Lara Environs
DESCRIPTION:This walk visits the outlying areas of Lara\, including parklan
 ds\, wetlands and Hovells Creek. The walk starts at Lara Station and heads
  south along the Hovell Creek Trail to the Hume and Hovell Memorial near t
 he Princes Freeway. From there we cross over Hovells Creek and walk along 
 a country road to reach the Lara Lakelands where we will see the result of
  recent work carried out to improve the wetland area.
 From there\, anoth
 er short walk along suburban streets brings us to the Westlake Boulevard a
 rea to explore this southwest corner of Lara. Millars cafe is included in 
 the tour of the lakes area for those wanting to buy refreshments ( toilets
  available).
 After lunch\, we make our way to Six Ways Corner (toilets)\
 , then walk along Flinders Avenue to Hovells Creek. A short walk along the
  creek will take us to the Kevin Hoffmann Walk for the short walk through 
 the gardens before heading to the Lara Shopping Centre and the return to L
 ara Station.
 Meet at Southern Cross Vintage Clock by 8.55 am. for the 9.
 10 train to Geelong. This train stops at Footscray(9.18 am)\, Sunshine( 9.
 23 am)\,Deer Park(9.28 am)\,and Tarneit( 9.37 am) to pick up passengers\, 
 or members can drive to Lara Station to meet the above train due at 9.58 a
 m.
 Covid restrictions are to be adhered to where applicable\, and all wa
 lkers must be fully vaccinated.
