SUMMARY:Woodlands Historic Park Wander.
DESCRIPTION:Starting at Woodlands Homestead\, the walk takes us to Moonee P
onds Creek near the Park entrance and the Ben Chaffey Water Trail. From th
ere\, we follow the creek in a south east direction\, checking out the mag
nificent river red gums along the way. We leave the Creek near where it me
ets the Moonee Ponds Creek Trail and head north to the Parks Victoria

Office and workshops.. From there we wander towards Providence Road befor
e turning into the grounds of the now derelict Greenvale Hospital/Sanatori
 um.
Leaving the hospital grounds for a while\, we explore the area aroun
d the nearby Weeroona Cemetery before moving on to the Greenvale Dam at th
e southern end of the Grounds. This takes us back into the deserted area f
or a look around the southern section including the water towers where one
of the Sanatorium Hospital shelters existed.
 Leaving this historic area
\, we make use of a horse trail alongside the sugar gum plantation to get
back to the Parks Victoria Office and then cross country to Woodlands to t
 he finish at the Homestead.
An added bonus could be that the Park may be
covered with the purple of Patterson's Curse which is usually out in abun
dance at this time of year.
Meet at Woodlands Homestead top car park by
9.30 am. The walk involves some easy cross country walking off tracks\, so
  boots are re ommended.
Covid restrictions must be adhered to where appl
icable and all walkers must be fully vaccinated.
