Langi Ghiran Exploratory
Langi Ghiran State Park is situated just North of the Western Highway, about 15km East of Ararat. It is forested granite range with a variety of walks possible.
This short (weekend) base camp is an "exploratory" two days - walk Leader Jim assisted by co-leader Marion will be looking to map out the route of a possible 2 day pack walk, later in the year.
As an exploratory walk, the exact route and activities cannot be specified fully, but this is the initial plan ...
Saturday - meet at the picnic/camping ground, with the walking for the day to be (probably) two short walks - Langi Ghiran art walking track (2km) and Reservoir Track and Water Race Circuit (5+ km).
Sunday - Ascend Mt Langi Ghiran from the NE, descend to the South, passing Hidden Lagoon (8 to 10km?). Much of this day will be off-track.
Some car travel/shuffling may occur on each day.
Accommodation (on Saturday night) - the suggestion is light car-based camping at the Picnic/Camping ground. The bright lights of Ararat are another option, though, if you have transport.
Car-pooling, if necessary, can be organised once we know who's coming.
