Werribee River walk, Spargo Creek , Wombat State Forest

Sat Oct 28th 2023 2:00:00 -2:00:00

This is a fabulous really picturesque medium circuit bushwalk of 14ks. Lots of undulating hills (some undulating more than others ?) plus one river crossing. The walk follows the Werribee River to Spargo Creek Road, then we double back for a bit making our way to the Werribee River Camping Ground just past Carroll's Track to view the Spargo Creek Weather Station.Should the river be high, then we have another track to follow without getting our feet wet..

Directions: Take the Western Hwy then take the Ballan Daylesford Rd exit and head towards Daylesford. Approx 9ks down the road, turn right into Bunding-Blakeville Rd and keep driving till you come to a lovely little picnic area (Werribee River Picnic Ground) and park there.

NOTE: The turnoff into Bunding-Blakeville Rd is an unsealed good quality road BUT is easily missed and just before a bend.

South Gippsland Rail Trail

Tue Oct 31st 2023 - Fri Nov 3rd 2023

South Gippsland Rail trail

Nyora to Port Welshpool and return 220 km

(Credit Card Ride not camping)

As there is little option for camping I will be suggesting the following accommodation

Tuesday 31/10/23 (47 km)

Meeting at the Old Railway Station Nyora at 10:00-Parking the cars there

Riding to Meeniyan, passing through Korumburra Leongatha and Koonwarra.

Staying at the Meeniyan Motel Phone 5664 00309 (Rooms Doubles, Family DB & 2Singles or Dd & 3 Singles0)  dinner at the pub.

Wednesday 01/11/23 (71 km)

Leaving Meeniyan, we will ride to Fish Creek for morning tea and onto Toora continuing to Welshpool and Port Welshpool (anyone can choose to stop and wait at Toora which reduces the day by 30 KM), returning to Toora Pub (5686 2475) for the night and tea. Rooms Double, Singles & Twins

Thursday 02/11/23 (56km )

Leaving Toora riding via Fish creek, Meeniyan Koonwarra to Leongatha spending a night at Mc Cartins pub 4/2 Blaier Street phone 5662 2050 Rooms Double, Singles & Twins

Friday 03/11/23 (35km)

Leaving Leongatha and riding to Korumburra Loch to Nyora. Loading up and heading home.

The great advantage of this ride is there is a twice daily vline bus service between all the towns so at any stage you can store your bike and travel back to the cars and return to pick up your bike.

You will need to bring breakfast and lunch for each day or buy lunch on the way but apart from the main towns there is very little else (apart for cows & trees)
